This pin is a little over 2 1/2" long and slides through the back of a high-quality faceted glass rhinestone. It is pinned to a garment so that the flat part of the stone faces outward. There are no prongs - it's set in a clear plastic carrier which is affixed to the pin.  The plastic carrier has a tiny loop on either side through which wire can be fed, depending on the needs of your design -- see photo below looking down onto the pin.  

There is a clear rubber stopper on the end of the pin - I would recommend reinforcing the stopper with a dab of glue before using.

Rhinestone is 8mm (5/16) - high quality glass with nice sparkle.
